ONVIF held an Open Reception in conjunction with the ASIS trade show. The
146 participants from 58 companies heard ONVIF Chairman Jonas Andersson talk
about the forum’s accomplishments during its first year of operations and its
outlook for 2010. The highlight of the event was the show plug fest, where nine
companies demonstrated 14 interoperable network video products.
“We demonstrated our IP cameras as ONVIF compliant at this plug-fest as
part of 10 different IP cameras sharing the same network, being recorded and
viewed on four different video management systems,” explained Dr. Bob Banerjee,
Product Marketing Manager for Bosch Security Systems. “It was eye-opening to
see arch competitors proudly working together on the same table top. We’ve
waited a year and a half to reach the tipping point: this event was it! The market will demand that providers of video management
systems and hybrid recorders be able to handle these edge devices. Major
players know that and are planning ahead.”
In a peer-to-peer set up, AVerMedia, Axis, Bosch, Canon, IndigoVision,
Lilin, Panasonic, Sony, and Vivotek proved the successful implementation of the
ONVIF core specification 1.0 into a total of 10 network cameras and four
software clients.
